My boys love nothing more than playing with trucks, cars and fire engines, especially fire engines. They would play with them all day long, booming then about our floor for hours of noisy endless fun. Thankfully we have laminate flooring, making them zoom about the floor much easier than carpet. When we were sent the Big Boots Fire Truck by Matchbox I knew it would be a bit hit and I was right. This is one toy that has been played with continuously since it came from the delivery man, who seems to be very generous to my boys, him and the mail man. The boys think they pay for and delivery them by themselves. If only.
Big Boots Fire Truck is a sturdy and pretty big truck with opening doors at the front, where the characters can fit in, a ladder that lifts up, spaces around the truck like the stairs where the characters can stand and big chunky wheels. All perfect for little hands to get in and about. It has been bashed off couches and walls and there is not one loose part or broken bit, so it gets a bit thumbs up from me, there have been no tears.
Blaze Brigade is what the fire truck is called, we also got 3 Big Boots characters to go with it. There is also some canine companions for the fire fighters which are very cute. The favourite bit of the fire truck is the launch button. This works by sitting a Big Boots character on the top of the ladder and you can launch him into the air. This brought hours of laughter from the boys, trying to hit the other characters they had lined up on on the floor. There is also a missile launcher at the top of the truck which they can shoot out.
The Big Boots themselves are the little people, in this case they are fire fighters with yes, big boots. They remind me of Weebles, which I loved as a child but a different shape. They do wobble but don’t fall down, for those of us old enough to remember Weebles. One of the best things about this toy is that it is ready to go the minute it comes out of the box and does not require batteries. Woo hoo.
This toy gets a huge thumbs up from both me and the boys. I would highly recommend it and the boys have the rest of the range on their Christmas list already so that’s got to be a good thing.
You can expand your Big Boots range, there is also a Bootsburg which is part of the 999 type range and a Bootslandia which is a desert/dinosaur type range. There are also colouring pictures and posters to download from the Matchbox website, so don’t forget to have a look there.
