I got my 20 week scan. Here is baby at 20 weeks and 3 days. This is the first time I have had a detailed/Anomaly scan as they didn’t do them when I had my last two. It was an amazing scan where we got to see all the bones in the baby’s spine, his or her little fingers & toes, they measures the size of the head, waist and femur bone, then checked out the heart, every single chamber, kidneys (one that concerns me), bladder, etc. That’s all I can remember, I’m sure there were many more bits and bobs of the baby’s anatomy looked at. It was amazing and I am pleased to say all is fine and he or she has all 10 fingers and 10 toes.
We did ask to if they could see the baby’s sex but she couldn’t see due to the baby being very wriggly and had his or her legs closed. So it’s a surprise. I reckon a boy since I have two already, but you never know. As long as he or she is healthy and the boys are happy, then I’m happy.
I saw the consultant last week and they were happy with the results of the scan but were concerned I still hadn’t felt movement, considering it’s my third baby and I felt my second move at 17 weeks. They checked this out and it looks like I have an anterior placenta. I’ve not had this before, but it means my placenta is in front of my womb so there is a nice little cushion between my baby’s little legs and arms. I’m not 22 weeks and felt the baby move twice just. Anyone had experience of this?
The other issues I have is with breathlessness & blurry eyesight for a few weeks. They think I may be anaemic with the blood loss through my kidneys and the aspirin, so they are checking that. I’m fine though. I’m getting the growth scans due to being high risk pre-eclampsia & the sizes of previous babies. Plus my kidneys. These will be done at 28,32 & 36 weeks. Got to hear the baby’s heartbeat so all good there. Back at consultant clinic at 28 weeks & midwife at 24.
All in all I’m feeling not too bad. Tired still but ok, worried I can’t feel the baby to know he or she is ok, but I trust she or he is. My bump isn’t too big and I haven’t really felt all that pregnant to be honest. My bump isn’t the hard way when you struggle to move and I don’t feel heavy or anything.
The boys are both wanting a boy now, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve still done nothing in relation to getting anything ready for the baby as I’ve been busy painting my hallway. Still plenty of time.
Here is my bump pic at 22 weeks.
