On Wednesday night the boys were having trouble getting to sleep. They kept shouting on me for this and that, so I sat on the stairs in the hallway for a bit rather than going down stairs to be shouted on again. I sat there listening to the things they were talking to each other about. One in the top bunk and the other on the bottom bunk.
Lucas:- Tyler, when you go to school you need to be a good boy. You need to listen to the teacher and do what you are told.
Tyler:- I know I will.
Lucas:-No messing about.
Tyler:- I don’t, I’m a good boy.
Lucas:- You might even get a surprise.
Tyler:- What sort of surprise?
Lucas:- You get a green frog, if you get lots you get a silver award and a tificate. (certificate)
Tyler:- Wow I want one of those.
Lucas:- I’m getting one.
Lucas:- Tyler?
Tyler:- What?
Lucas:- See when I visited the police station.
Tyler:- Uh Huh.
Lucas:- I was in a real police van.
Tyler:- Really? Did you put the nee naw on?
Lucas:- Yes, it was really loud and I was in the back too.
Tyler:- Was it hairy?
Lucas:- Yeah, there was a dog in there.
Lucas:- I went in through the back doors to the police station and was in jail. I really thought I was actually in jail.
Tyler:- Were you scared?
Lucas:- I thought I was locked in.
Tyler:- Did you get out?
Lucas:- Yes the police man let me out.
Tyler:- I want to be a Policeman.
Lucas:- Mummy?
Me:- Yes?
Lucas:- Can I be a Policeman?
Me:- Yes, you can be whatever you want to be when you are older.
Lucas:- Are you a Policeman?
Me:- No. I’m a software developer and manager.
Lucas:- What does that mean?
Me:- I work with computers.
Lucas:- Is daddy?
Me:- No he works with computers too.
Lucas:- Can you not be a police man instead?
Me:- No honey I can’t. Now time for sleep.
Tyler:- Can I be a Policeman?
Me:- Yes of course. Now sleep.
I love listening to what they say, when you aren’t around. It’s so cute and funny.
What funny things has your child said or done this week?
