We are big gamers in our house. We have pretty much, every console under the sun. My oldest loves to play games, we mainly encourage educational games but they are fun too. My husband is a big gamer, he plays a lot online games against others from his consoles. I just like a wee shot every now and then. But one thing I have learned this week is that games consoles are more than just for playing games.
I am an Xbox Ambassador, this means I get to preview and report back on what is coming up on the all new Xbox 360 experience. I cannot tell you how excited I am by this, we use the console on a daily basis and to be able to use it for more than just gaming is another great reason to have it or get one if you don’t. Christmas is around the corner, get your order in now. I am sure you are on Santa’s nice list, so what are you waiting for.
Once of the coolest new features is the first wave of the custom voice controlled entertainment apps on Xbox live. Have a look at the new dashboard for yourself, I don’t doubt you will be impressed. This gives you access to your favourite content, whether it is movies, sports, music or even games, but the best bit for me is the on-demand TV service you can receive. Who needs a remote, which is lost down the side of the couch, when you have voice control. Cool, huh?
So how does it work? Well, it’s simple but very clever, it works using the Kinect for the Xbox 360 and Bing Search. You just say what you want and the Xbox 360 finds it, as if by magic. You will be able to stream live television from Xbox’s partner Sky, but not only that you can watch content from Channel 4, Channel 5, LOVEFiLM and many more. In 2012 you will be able to watch content from the BBC.
Over the next few weeks I will be bringing you some previews and reviews of the new Xbox 360 features, so watch this space. In the meantime why not fill in this survey and be in with a chance to win £200. It is open to UK residents only and you must be over 16 and it ends 16/12/11.
