Many of you who follow me on twitter will know that our little cat Yoshi had to get put to sleep on Sunday evening. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. He was fine on the Sunday during the day, just a little quite and I noticed he hadn’t eaten much. I gave him some treats when we got back from the supermarket which he ate.
I had cooked fish for dinner that night and noticed he hadn’t come down when he smelled the fish. When the boys went for their bath, I went to find him. He was hiding under our bed. He was ok but didn’t want to come out. Once the boys were in bed, hubby shouted me through saying Yoshi had let out an almighty meow and he lifted the mattress and he’d been sick. He was lying on his side and not moving. I lifted him out and he was non responsive but breathing. Very rapidly but still breathing. He wasn’t responding to light and didn’t seem to hear.
I called the emergency vet and they talked me through a few things, but I had to take him in to the A and E pet hospital in Glasgow. To cut a long and horrible story short the vet thinks he had some kind of brain hemorrhage or has eaten something he should have. He thought he was maybe born with it since he was not even two years old. Rather than put him through anything else when he was so unresponsive, we decided to put him to sleep.
We will miss you and wish you were here. I even fed you the other morning. I keep hearing you around the house, it’s just not the same without you.
Here is my tribute to such a beautiful and loving cat.
He was so cute as a kitten.
Amazing with the children. You never bared your claws and were always so gentle. Very protective over Tyler.
You grew into a beautiful cat.
You died far too young and will be missed. You were loved with all our hearts, I am so sorry you are gone.
RIP Yoshi 16/03/2010 – 13/11/2011
