Another Year Older

3rd October 2011 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

Last Wednesday was my birthday and I was a whopping 34 years old. Yes really, I am that old. I don’t feel it however, I still feel the same as I did mid 20’s certainly not my teenage years, hell no. You have no idea what I got up to then and my children never will.
I had a lovely birthday, even though I was at work. I got to have a lovely lunch with a good friend. In the evening I had a take away dinner at my mother and father in-law’s house, with my hubby, my boys, my sister-in-law and her gorgeous family. I had a haggis supper, one of my favourite meals and one I leave for a special occasions, it’s not kind on the hips. Lots of lovely presents were given, hugs and kisses were given and there was also a big chocolate cake. What more could a girl ask for.
It has been an interesting year looking back. My baby turned 2 and hit the terrible twos in full swing. My oldest started school at the summer and I am so proud of him, he took it all in his stride. The very emotional nursery graduation started our summer off, but he took school by storm. I went to Cybermummy for the second time and met lots of lovely new and old friends from my blog and twitter, which never fails to amaze me how lovely it is to do this. We went to the fun Peppa Pig world, Fishers Park Farm and Legoland as a family holiday at the beginning to the year and went to a caravan in Whitely Bay at the summer. Recently the biggest event has been 4 weeks with the chicken pox. Hubby suffers from ME and he has been doing very well. Good and bad days but more good than bad, I am very proud of him for not lying down to this debilitating disease.

So that’s the family but what about me, in myself? At the end of the year I was still on anti-depressants and seeing a counsellor every week. This wasn’t working, I was going round in circles and getting no-where. At the start of the year around March time I started on Thinking Slimmer. This was the push I needed to start loosing some weight, but also to feel ready to come off anti depressants, counselling and get the help I needed. I spoke to Sandra from Thinking Slimmer and discussed my “issues” and she agreed to help me. When I was in London at Cybermummy I got some cognitive behavioural therapy. (I will go into why I was on anti depressants, counselling and the cognitive therapy at a later date when I am ready.) This helped solve part of the problems but it was only the beginning in the help I am getting from Sandra and her Thinking Slimmer team. I have come so far in less than a year and I hope in my 34th year we will see some huge improvements in my mental state.

Thank you all for all your birthday wishes and those who helped my celebrate my birthday, thank you too.
