This is my first entry for The Friday Club as hosted by the lovely Ella at Notesfromhome. She is one of the bloggers who holds a very special place in my heart. She knows why, but this is the time or the place to explain that, so I will carry on with this week’s subject which is Blog/Life Balance Finding the Time to Blog.
You all know I have a blog, right, your reading it. I have been blogging for just under 2 years and I have loved every minute of it. I didn’t know what to expect when I started blogging, but I have learned so much, met so many friends and gained so much experience. However, it does become difficult to balance the blogging and life the more you get into it.
It starts off with a few posts about your children, I started with my youngest’s birth story, then you join in some carnivals or weekly meme like The Gallery. Before you know it, your posting every day or every other day.
I work 4 days per week, which is 31 hours there, and find it hard not spending enough time with my two boys as it is without adding blogging to the equation. When I leave work, I have an hour with them to play and chat before putting them to bed. At the weekends I fit in the housework, etc and spend every other minute with my boys and my husband being a family and just being together. Then there is dinner, tiding up, etc that needs done when they go to bed.
So when do I fit in blogging? Well I do the odd bit in my lunch break at work but mainly I blog in the evenings. I do not let blogging interfere with my time with my boys, unless something has to be done and I make sure hubby and I spend one weeknight and one weekend night together, where no computers are allowed. The odd tweet fine. He’s as much addicted to Twitter as I am.
This balance works well most of the time, sometimes I get bogged down with the books I get to review. I love reading and love being a book blogger as well as a mummy blogger, but it can get a bit much a times. These are the times I step back and make lists. Lists help.
I haven’t quite found that blog/life balance but I’m almost there. Have you?
