Description:- That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.
Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.
But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?
Review:- Hex Hall was one of my favourite reads of last year, so I was desperate to read the sequel to it. Sophie is a great main character and the chemistry between her and Archer left you wanting more. I have to say Demonglass did not disappoint. I absolutely loved it.
Sophie leaves Hex Hall and her mum behind and goes to England to stay with her Demon, Council running father for the summer. Her best friend Jenna and her “fiance” whom she is just found out she was betrothed to Cal is also going. There are very few Demons, but there are a few others Sophie gets to meet that her father and the council have taken in. Can they be trusted?
I wasn’t sure about Sophie’s dad at first, but he grew on me. I liked Cal to begin with and in Hex Hall but he was one of my least favourite characters in Demonglass. Jenna is as funny as ever with her vampire quirks. My favourite thing about this book is Sophie’s sarcasm. I can so relate, I was exactly like her as a teen. She is hilarious. The chemistry between her and Archer is back in full swing, so thrilling to read.
Demonglass is a lot more fast paced than Hex Hall, both are page turners which you don’t want to put down. The ending, what can I say about the ending? It was awesome, it blew away all my expectations and left me wanting so much more. I actually sat for a good few minutes staring at the book unable to believe I couldn’t find out what happens next.
Rachel Hawkins knows how to write cliffhangers and leave you gasping for more.
I LOVED this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes YA. I cannot wait until Book 3.
Thank you so much to the wonderful International Book Tours for lending me an arc copy of this book.
