Product Review – Quaker Paw Ridge

13th January 2011 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

Description:- Children’s favourite cereal, Paw Ridge, will be tantalising young taste buds this winter with the launch of Paw Ridge Blueberry, which joins the honey and original versions of the kid-friendly porridge.
Paw Ridge uses the best quality oats and mills them extra finely to create a smoother porridge. The new blueberry variety is a naturally flavoured fruity version that’s sure to be a winner in the morning.
Unlike many children’s breakfast cereals, Paw Ridge is made from 100% natural ingredients – that means no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. As mums will know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, providing nutrients for brain function. So a bowl of delicious Paw Ridge is a great way to give kids the nourishment they need to kick start their day.
Paw Ridge is also a good source of fibre – important for maintaining a healthy digestive system. Each serving contains more than two grams.

Perfect for busy mornings, Paw Ridge is also quick and easy to make by simply mixing a sachet with milk or water in a bowl and heating in the microwave to create a delicious, wholesome breakfast in just 90 seconds. Mums can also help their kids towards their 5 A DAY by adding a fruity topping such as seasonal berries or a sliced banana for a tasty treat.
Review:- I was asked to review this a few months back and it has taken me this long to get around to doing the review. Not because I wasn’t interested far from it. Breakfast is not the favourite meal of the day in our house. Both my husband and I tend to skip it or eat something at work, yes I know we are setting a bad example and I am making it my new years resolution to change all that.
So porridge I thought would be a great way for the boys to start their day. So day one I made the porridge with milk as instructed. The now 4 year old, doesn’t like milk hasn’t really ever but eats a lot of dairy products. The almost 2 year old, loves milk but not a lot of dairy products. Neither would eat the porridge, despite it smelling delicious and looking yummy. I don’t eat or drink milk as it makes me sick since I was 6 months old. Again not a good role model, but not much I can do about that one.
I tried again but my two weren’t for it. I gave them to my friends daughter when she was here and she wolfed it down. She loved it and had a second bowl.

All in all I think these are fantastic, easy, nutritious and delicious breakfasts. I would highly recommend to anyone with kids who will eat porridge.

Another favourite addition to the Oat So Simple range is Oat So Simple Honey & Almond. The delicious combination of sweet and nutty flavours is a guaranteed treat for the taste buds every morning.

The Oat So Simple range could not be any simpler to prepare, great for those short on time or late out of bed! Each box has ten sachets of easy-to-cook porridge and a serving takes just two minutes to microwave. To make life even simpler, you can use the sachet to measure the right quantity of milk, resulting in perfect porridge every time, with minimal fuss!
Quaker Oat So Simple is made with 100% wholegrain oats which contain a soluble fibre called beta glucan that can help to lower cholesterol*.

Review:- I didn’t eat these but after making and smelling them, I really wished I could eat porridge. They smell divine. Honestly, the Winter Pudding one smelled like Christmas time, like mulled wine, when toasty hot. One of my favourite scents.
Anyway, I made some for some work colleagues both the Winter Pudding and the Honey and Almond. All were devoured within minutes and I was left with the empty bowls and the washing up. Nice huh! But the main thing was they were enjoy and given the thumbs up.

The porridge is great, smells heavenly, tastes great (according to those that ate it) and is really easy to make. Go buy, eat a good and warm breakfast today.

Thank you Quaker for sending me the porridge to taste and review.
