ToysRUs Review – Tomica Big City Set

21st December 2010 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

Description:- Explore the world of Tomica in this all-action figure of 8 track set. The Big City Set is packed with things to do. Ride the rails, and then drive around Tomica’s roads. If you happen to break down, call the pick up truck to help you get to the repair garage and back on your journey.
Discover a place where road a rail connect together and watch as high tech trains speed around the track, or travel around the city by car visiting all that the town has to offer. Tomica brings together a network of trains and cars, and allow the freedom to build your own Tomica Town. The possibilities are endless.

Review:- My two boys love this toy. They sat patiently waiting for it to be setup, which took less than half an hour from unpacking, de-tagging to putting on all the little stickers. Pretty good I thought. I built it myself, much to the disappointment of my hubby, who wanted to play with it. The instructions were simple, even the stickers were straightforward. The train requires one C battery which isn’t supplied, but for all the fun they get out of this toy, that is good. The train goes around the track, up the hill, through the tunnel, around and back down again. Both boys sat mesmerised for ages just watching it go round and round. You can flip the lever to get the train to stop at the station, then flip it back for it to go again. It is also very easy for little ones to put back onto the track if knocked off. Even my 23 month old can do it. One of the best things about this set is that it has a road and car park within the train track. In the past I’ve found my oldest gets bored with trains that go around on their own as he doesn’t have anything to do, but this has the road, they can drive their cars around, a garage with a working car lift thingy to lift the cars to get fixed. And a waiting room with doors which open with the touch of a button. There is a pickup truck to collect the cars and a little guy who fixes the cars. Both boys have played with this set non-stop since getting it. I honestly can’t recommend this set enough. I only wish I’d known about it sooner and gotten them some of the other sets for their Christmas. It’s my youngest 2nd birthday in January, so I’ll be buying another kit for him to go with it. A truly fantastic toy.
I would recommend this to everyone young or old. At £39.99 it’s worth it. There is so much you can do with this, then there are the numerous other sets you can buy which allow you to build into an entire Tomica City. Check them out on the ToysRUs website.
Thank you very much to the lovely and generous Tara from Sticky Fingers for sharing her Toyologist wealth.
