Book Review – Alien Storm by A.G. Taylor

6th December 2010 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

Description: Superpowers and conspiracy collide in this unmissable action-packed sci-fi thriller, sequel to ‘Meteorite Strike’. Granted superpowers by the mysterious Fall virus that has put so many in an irreversible coma and chased by the rogue international agency HIDRA, mind-controller Sarah and her band of super-powers kids are in hiding. And they’re not the only ones. Given the power of invisibility by the virus, Alex has committed one bank robbery too many – now the police are on his trail. And somewhere out in the desert an old enemy is biding his time. But from the distant wilds of Russia comes an unexpected offer to help. A mysterious stranger claims to know the truth about the virus. But the truth can be a very dangerous thing. Introducing mesmerizing heroes with mind-blowing powers, this roller-coaster read of chilling conspiracies and secret organizations is the perfect escape for anyone who’s longed to be just a little bit special.
Review: Six children survived a potentially lethal virus attack on earth and developed superpowers as a result. Many adults wished to harness these powers for their own benefit but in order to do so had to capture or befriend the children. The adults that tried various tactics ranged from government officials, a Russian billionaire and a mad general. In a desperate attempt to keep all the children safe one of the strongest characters, Sarah takes on the role of mother and minder. The children are lured into a false sense of security for a while but Sarah’s alertness and her ability to judge the various characters result in their powers being pitted against their very strong adversary, whose robots ( dogs)are deadly. Good however triumphs over evil with the help of a minor and his lovable robot. This novel was exciting and remained so throughout. It strong characters were of both genders which give it a wide appeal. The author had the ability to give some of the robots human qualities which was quite endearing.
This is not normally my choice of book but it was a great story line, plenty of action with the sci-fi input of the super powers.

I won this book from Usborne thank you very much.
