Product Review – Rowse Honey

24th November 2010 By Susan Mann 2 Comments

When I was offered the chance to try out the range of Rowse Honey I jumped at the chance. I’m a huge fan of honey and so are my boys.
My mum had a health food shop, which she owned for over ten years when I was younger so honey is something that has been part of my diet from a young age. It’s great on toast, bread, for baking and to sweeten tea.

I tried and tested the following:-

Acacia Honey

Description: Our Acacia is a light and mild tasting honey that doesn’t crystallise or set. It’s a perfect sugar substitute, with a flavour that brings to mind fruits like melons, apples and pears. And it comes in jars or squeezy bottles.
Strength – 1 Mild
Flavour – Light and mild
Ways to enjoy it – Forget sugar – use this honey to sweeten drinks and baking instead.
Review: This is a fantastic all round honey. The squeeze bottle is easy to use and there is no mess what so ever. It tastes lovely on toast. I have used this for a sore throat and when I have the cold there is nothing better than a hot toddy. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s hot water, whiskey and honey. Cures all.

Supahoney Lemon

Description: This citrusy Supahoney is a blend of 5+ Manuka honey, clear honey and lemon juice from concentrate. It’s truly delicious and is perfect served on toast, porridge, or in drinks and smoothies.
Strength – 3 Medium
Flavour – Herbal and sweet
Ways to enjoy it – Spread it on toast, mix into porridge, stir into yoghurt, or add a spoonful into a cup of warm water for a yummy, comforting drink.
Review: This honey is delicious. Great on toast, the tangy and sweet flavours balance each other perfectly. My two little boys also love this. I haven’t given them it for breakfast, a little sticky but they have had it for lunch and asked for seconds.

Active 15+ Manuka Honey

Description: We measure our Manuka honey using the activity rating system. The higher the rating, the higher the antibacterial content (measured by in-vitro laboratory tests).
Strength – 4 Fairly strong
Flavour – Strong and intense
Ways to enjoy it – Try stirring it into a cup of warm water or drizzling over your porridge or cereal.
Review: Like the rest this is a great honey. I tried this one also for my sore throat and I have to say this did make a big difference. When my mother saw this honey in my cupboard she claimed it as her own. My mum sold it in her shop for various aliments. She now takes it for helicobacter pylori, the Manuka is the best type of honey for this, so she tells me.
I would recommend Rowse Honey to everyone. Honey tastes great and is good for you.

The Rowse Honey website is a great resource for information, recipes and games for getting your little bees involved. There is even a link to make your own bee.

Thank you very much Rowse for sending me these products out to try. They are delicious.

Rowse Honey is very poor quality!
Every variety I have tried including Organic ,crystallises with in a couple of weeks. This indicates there is a high level of sugar in the product.
They seem to have monopolised the honey market and I believe this is why they get away with lowering the quality of their products!
