Writing Workshop – Release

5th August 2010 By Susan Mann 5 Comments

This is my entry for the lovely Josie’s Writing Workshop over at Sleep is for the Weak.
I went with the prompt “Release”. I’m going for another poem, I would love some feedback on my poems. Are they getting worse? Better? Or I am just not that good at them? It’s all new to me but I’m enjoying writing them, so even if I am rubbish I think I’ll keep at it. But I hope you enjoy….
Release
Up and down,
Up and down,
The balloon bobs about at the end of the string,
Caught by the breath of the wind.

Standing still, I look up at the bright red balloon.
A flashing beacon against the blue sky.
I breath in a huge gust of air,
And on release I let go of my friend.

The string slides through my fingers until it’s free.
Free to soar up, up, up into the sky.
Higher, higher, higher it climbs.
Until it is a red dot in my vision.

I release you my friend, my balloon.

Hope you enjoyed my poem, why not check out the rest of the entries over at Sleep is for the weak.

Ah lovely. I wish I had one of those fire balloon thingies…that I could send my 'stuff' away in and just release into the night sky. Like blowing dandelions.

I felt as if I was releasing it with you. I could feel the wind pulling it towards the sky. Lovely, I admire anyone that writes poems, I simply cannot do it.
