For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON!!! No seriously, I thought I would do a post on my three year old’s second favourite television program. His first is Curious George but that is a whole other post.
Peppa pig is about a bratty, spoilt little girl called Peppa, who is a pig. She lives with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and little brother George.
Each episode is about an everyday activity eg. Swimming, riding bikes, etc and lasts about five minutes. It can be seen on Nick Jnr or Milkshake on Five.
All the characters are different species of animals. Each with a first name starting with the same letter as the animal type, the type of animal being their surname. With the exception of George, he is not George Pig but just George. Not sure, what he has done wrong or right to allow him to be missed from the naming convention used but he is just George. Other characters are eg. Candy Cat, Rebecca Rabbit but no he is not Paul Pig or Peter Pig he is just George.
Poor George, Peppa isn’t the nicest of sister’s to him most of the time. He can pretty much only say “Dinosor”, which is his favourite toy and in one episode Peppa tried to give him away to a Jumble Sale. He was heart broken, thankfully the brat, sorry I mean Peppa gave away her Jack in the Box, which she bought back in the end anyway.
Daddy Pig also gets quite a bit of a hard time; they all tease him about his fat tummy, which to be fair he is a Pig, so surely they are supposed to be on the plump side. However, really mummy pig shouldn’t tease too much, she’s no Kate Moss.
Mummy Pig is the best mummy in the world in her children’s eyes. She seems to be a stay at home mummy, whom does work on her computer. Who know what type of work, maybe some kind of Adult sex toy website, or something? We might read about it in the headlines at some point.
Madame Giselle is Peppa and more recently George’s playgroup teacher. However, she was also Mummy and Daddy Pig’s playgroup teacher. What I want to know is how old is this woman, she doesn’t look that old. Maybe she is immortal. Are their Vampires in Peppa pig land? Moreover, was their ever a Mr Giselle?
Peppa Pig did make the headlines recently parents complained about the fact that in the first two series of show, Peppa did not wear a seatbelt when in the car. One parent said her child refused because Peppa didn’t wear one. Really, you are the parent it is in his or her safety to put one on, just do it. Thanks to the complaints all further Peppa pig episode have Peppa strapped in, when in the car. She isn’t allowed to drive yet, because a pig driving now that would just be silly now wouldn’t it.
Stay tuned for the next Peppa Pig instalment: The Lives and Loves of Miss Rabbit…

I dedicated a whole post to Miss Rabbit a while back. Peppa Pig rocks our world. Rather bizarrely I heard Chris Moyles make a reference to Madame Gazelle on his radio 1 show early this week.. http://www.veryboredincatalunya.com/2009/10/unsung-heros-no-1.html” target=”_blank”>.http://www.veryboredincatalunya.com/2009/10/unsung-heros-no-1.html
Very funny. Rosemary's not that into Peppa Pig anymore, though she still loves playing the game on my DS. Miss Rabbit, though… Is she a single mum? And how many jobs does she have? Or are the 50 different Miss Rabbits?
What a funny post, loved it!I think I really enjoy Peppa pig more then my son does. It airs here in Norway as well.
I remember Peppa Pig very well and your description of spoilt pig made me laugh, I kept thinking there was something I did't like about that pig but couldn't quite put my finger on it.Now my niece is obsessed with it. And she's spoilt. Hmmm.CJ xx
I really like Peppa Pig….I can't stand Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom though. The voices really annoy me. ;0)
When we lived in London my daughter 4 at the time was every day watching Peppa Pig and we bought from ASDA a play set she loved dearly. She still has it.
