Flying with A Baby or Toddler – You Need JetKids BedBox

9th May 2016 By Susan Mann 11 Comments

JetKids BedBox

Will you be travelling with a baby or toddler this summer? Is the thought overwhelming? I know when I first went on a plane with my children I was filled with dread. With my first child the thought of leaving the house required checklists and planning, never mind leaving the country! I wanted to make it look like I had everything under control even if inside my heart racing with panic. Our first trip as a family was to Bulgaria when Lucas was just over a  year old. We have traveled a few times and went to the USA when Tyler was only 4 months old. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

Carry-on

A few of my concerns were keeping the kids entertained in the airport. Another was having them comfortable to allow them to be able to sleep. What would have made it easier was a JetKids BedBox. These would have been a Godsend. A JetKids BedBox really is the ultimate travel companion for kids aged 0 to 7 years. It works as a your child’s hand luggage allowing for the essentials like a drink, snack and some colouring books. Looks good doesn’t it?

JetKids BedBox

Now, I know a lot with say, but it just looks like a Trunki or one of the other ride on suitcases that you see on the market these days. Think again! They are just the suitcases! They allow for some items to be stored in them, a couple of toys, a snack and yes they can be ridden on, you can can pull your child about on them, great. But that’s it. The JetKids BedBox is so much more, here’s what it can do;

  • Ride-on suitcase & inflight bed – First Class travel for Kids
  • Swivel wheels in front allows excellent maneuvering
  • Universal for almost every airplane seats and types
  • Machine washable mattress (Can also be used as changing mat)
  • Not to be used during take-off, landing or turbulence

Why do you need one? Well they take the hassle out of the issues I felt I had when I was travelling with little ones, they can sleep, have their own items so they feel like it’s their own case and they can travel on them, it’s fun, it’s useful and it works.

Inside JetKids BedBox

What is great about the JetKids BedBox:-

It’s a seat while waiting – Kids  can use them as seats while waiting at the airport or for the transfer to the hotel.

It’s a stroller substitute in the airport – You don’t need a stroller if your little one is big enough. You can pull them along on the JetKids Bedbox using the excellent swivel wheels.

No need for a changing mat – you can use the washable mattress. No need to worry about putting your baby on a unsanitary changing table.

Independence – your child will have the independence of storing his or her items. Even better is the top opening that other ride on suitcases don’t have. No need to worry about items spilling out all over the confined airplane space.

It’s a bed – best of all is it’s unique feature, it opens out into a bed that your little one to sleep comfortably and safe.

Bed JetKids

Children get tired when travelling, so being able to sleep is a must. On a plane, there is limited space and sleeping sitting up is really a no go for a child. The BedBox bed feature can be used for children up to around 4 years old. Once you are in the air and the seat belt sign is switched off, you can turn the BedBox into a bed, with the help of it’s unique lid. Add on the washable mattress and you are ready for your sleepy child. Once done, store it all away and stow away before landing.

Sleeping

You are not just limited to airplanes, this can be used on trains and even buses when travelling. Store their special blanket, soft toy, etc in the box and you are ready to go. Have a look at the video below for more information on how the BedBox works.

JetKids BedBox is £129 and available from their UK Warehouse.

Have you used ride on luggage? What did you think? What advice do you have for travelling with kids?

Hi Susan, I love this and I’m sure many other parents will too. My two are far too big and heavy to use one of these (I’m officially the smallest person in the house now), but it’s certainly something we would have considered purchasing for travelling with when they were small.

    xx

I like how the kids can ride on them, making it fun to look after their own things. I can imagine dragging my niece around the airport or hallway. For more go through this link – http://jet-kids.com/

How will it work if the person in front of you reclines their seat back? Will that be safe for the child?

I 2nd Jill’s question – how does it work if the front seat reclines? All of the videos online demo the bed against a flat 90 degree blue board in the front which is not realistic

i don’t have one of these jet kids bedboxes yet but i would assume you could have the child sleep either at the head or feet end in case you were worried about the seat in front reclining too far back. right? or did i miss something?

    Sorry for the late reply!

You are wondering what happens if the seat in front reclines. The fact is that the BedBox has been tested on many different economy seats with a normal recline angle. Since the platform height of the BedBox is so low, and close to the rotation/hinge point of the backrest of the seat in front, this will usually not be a problem. Moreover we recommend to put the head of the baby on his own seat in order to fasten the seatbelt 😉
