Did you hear, Teletubbies is back. It’s been almost 20 years since the colourful characters originally graced our tv screens, having the toddlers scream for me and the parents scream not again! It wasn’t my generation, but I remember hearing stories of my nephew had to have the teletubbies toys for his Christmas that year. It was the must have thing for little tots. Teletubbies episodes have been entertaining generations of children who have been singing the Teletubbies theme tune for years. It seems to appeal to them all. But it was starting to show it’s age. Cbeebies come to the rescue with 60 new episode Since the release of the new Teletubbies tv show aired back in November, the parents of a new generation of toddlers and pre-schoolers have eagerly awaited the release of the toys. Today is the day they are released as I blogged about last week the large box of Teletubbies toys that arrived that we were desperate to look in. Now we can!
Inside the box we had little packages all wrapped up in colourful tissue paper within packaging, it was very exciting and all a bit much for Aria she just couldn’t wait and got stuck into opening them.
First out was a gorgeous super soft plush Laa-Laa, who happens to be Aria’s favourite. The first thing I noticed was the softness, even I wanted to cuddle the toy and how bright it’s colour was. It really does stand out. The main different I noticed from our existing Teletubby toys we have, which were the boys, is they have different faces and eyes. The eyes are what sets them apart, it brings them to live almost. Hopefully, you’ll see what I mean. Not only that, but these plush new toys talk. They say Eh-oh and Big hug, as well as many other iconic phrases. At 8-inches they are the perfect size for little ones to hug.
We also got Po soft plush talking toy. Both of these were Aria’s favourite as you can see she wouldn’t let them go. She kept kissing and cuddling them. The packing box was also a firm favourite. You know kids and boxes. It was later made into a teletubbies bed. At £9.99 I think these are great value for money. Great for the youngest of Teletubbies fan, up to the oldest. They make a great addition to the range and you have to feel how soft they are. And look at those eyes.
Next out was Teletubbies 4 figure family pack. This is a great little set aimed at 18 months and over. The figures included are Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po. Two of the figures are standing and two are sitting. They are well made, bright, colourful and perfect for little hands to play with. The sets are compatible for other playsets. There are two different playsets to chose from. Aria loved these and played with them chatting away. At a cost of £9.99 I think they are a great way to introduce imaginative play and little ones can relate to the characters on the tv screen.
We also got to check out the plastic figures of Tinky Winky and their bag and Noo Noo figure. All part of the role play and imagination fun. Aria spent hours chatting and playing with the little figures. They are a perfect size to take out and about or to Grandparents.
The individual plastic figures are priced at £3.99. Which is a little expensive when you compare getting 4 for £9.99, but these are a bit more than them, the have an accessory built in like Tinky Winky’s bag and Noo Noo is great. You can zoom him up and down and it can join in with the Teletubbies games. Aria enjoyed Noo Noo and he was a firm favourite out of all the plastic figures. We have taken these out a few times in the car and to keep Aria occupied when the boys had their swimming lessons. A lovely little toy that can be used in many different ways.
Last but in no means least, we have the little plush Dipsy toy. This doesn’t talk, but is a great size for a first character toy at just 6 inches. The toy is so soft and hug-able, it hasn’t left Aria’s bed since. She’s cuddled it every night since she opened it out the box. Dipsy is a gorgeous bright green colour. Her face is hard, but has a soft sheen over it. Not too hard if your little one rolled onto it during the night. At £6.99 I think it’s a great price and I know Aria love this one.
There are many more Teletubbies toys in the range that aren’t featured here you might want to check out. We are interested in the Jumping Po and the Teletubbies phone, they are top of her birthday requests. There is a Laa-Laa Nightlight toy, of course a tubby custard machine, a superdome playset which looks great fun, a drive a steer Noo-Noo and many more.
All the toys are being made by Character Options and if you are a parent, you are likely to have come across this brand before. They are trusted and all their toys are of excellent quality, these do not fail to disappoint. We love the Teletubbies in this house and the new range of toys are great. They are well made, the soft toys are extremely soft to touch, they have a velvet feel to them. There are no small parts and the plastic toys are a lot of fun. Perfect for little hands and a great introduction to imaginative play. We really enjoyed testing the new range and look forward to seeing more and playing with the toys. They get a big thumbs up from me and I have promised Aria I will buy her a few more bits from the range for her birthday in a few weeks. And they get kisses from Aria, I’d say they are a big hit.
