Sometimes buying for mums can be difficult. Unless there is something I really want, then I’m happy with a surprise, but this can be stressful. It is the same with my mum and my mother in law. What do you buy? This is a list I’ve gather together of things I’d like or I’m getting my mum, mother in law or think they’d make a great gift someone else. What do you think?
Having grown up with my mum owning a health food shop and being a qualified aromatherapist, essential oils have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I know the benefits and the properties they possess. This is why I have chosen this gorgeous set to add to my list. This set is by Essence of Arcadia, this is the 14 oil set but they also do a smaller 6 oil set. These oils are divine and 100% pure and come in a gorgeous box as well as a booklet which contains fantastic recipes and blends you can make. The oils are all 10ml and are; Cinnamon, Bergamaunt, Eucalyptus, Frankinsence, Lavender, Peppermint, Teatree, Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Healing blend, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Ylang Ylang and Orange. I love Ylang Ylang. This makes a wonderful gift for anyone with an interest in essential oils, it’s a great starter pack with full instructions, looks great and even comes with free access to Essence of Arcadia VIP club for more recipes and blends. This set is £39.99 on Amazon at present, which is a good price for all the oils you are getting.
I love a new bit of makeup and what I loved about this set is variant of browns and neutral colours to create an every day colour or deeps smokey eyes for a night out. This is a great netural palette for any makeup lover, including light shimmer neutrals to deeper smokey shades to suit any eye look. It also comes with an eye primer to keep your eyeshadow staying all day and night! I’m hoping this appears in my stocking this year.
Another item I am hoping find in my stocking is a Peanuts 3 Piece Lip Balm Trio. With the movie coming out at the start of next year, Snoopy is going to be the thing to have. I was a big Snoopy fan being a child of the 80’s and these are very cute. The lip balm trio contain strawberry, orange and tropical flavours. It’s a great gift for anyone who always needs a lip balm handy and comes in a super cute tin. Available for £6 from Primark.
Gadgets are always a great gift, especially for a blogger/social media addict and IT pro like myself. However, the price tag always puts me off. This little baby is called Zing is a wearable lifestyle and activity tracker, which not only looks good, it’s reasonably priced at £69.99. You can control your Soundcloud or Spotify playlists from your wrist or use it as a selfie control for your iphone. Mainly the Zing builds an activity diary which allows you to track how you are doing and you can share on social media if you choose. The Zing allows you to build a private micro of networks with other zing friends, share fun messages, etc. The Zing can be worn on your wrist with a diamond or granite strap or you can accessorise with the pendant necklace or use it as a pebble carry unit. The later being my preferred, I’m not really a watch person so this is my kind of gadget. I am liking the music control. A lovely looking and life changing gift.
I couldn’t have a Christmas gift list and not include my one of my favourite indulgences that is Hotel Chocolat. These chocolates are scrumptious. They looks delightful and they taste even better. Wish so many different varieties there is something to tempt even the fussiest of pallets. I am loving the cute little Christmas ones with white chocolate reindeer this year. My choices for gifts would be the Merry Christmas gift box at a great price of £15.99, the Gingerbread truffle mmmm and or The Patisserie Sleekster with it’s selection of best loved cakes like lemon cheesecake. *mouth waters* And at £22, you might think is expensive, but these chocolates look and taste the part.
This might seem like a bit of an odd one to add to this Christmas list, but it’s something I have been eyeing up for myself for a while. It’s not something I need, it’s something I’d like. We all have various different consoles, tivo, apple tv, firestick, etc these days and they all require an hdmi port. Unless you have a super fancy tv, there are never enough. This nifty little HDMI port gadget allows you to plug in 5 different electronics using high speed 4k, not only that it has what I’ve been looking for, it has a wireless remote. I can change which electronic we are on without having to leave my seat or go round the back of the tv. Now you see, it’s a luxury, making life that little bit easier gift and at £30.00 it’s not a bad price.
For a few years now I have been a big fan of Miss Bohemia’s online shop. She does these cool literary quote t-shirts, earrings, etc and it’s something I love, something a little different. This time around my favourite is this cute little make up bag. Why not, every time you go to put make up on, you read “She’s a dreamer, a doer, a thinker. She sees possibility everywhere.” What a great start to the day. This is my quote of the year. Do check out her store and she has recently opened a baby apparel one too, I know this is the woman’s list, but do check it out on etsy. Great prices, great quotes and great little gift ideas. Plus Jen is really lovely too.
This isn’t something I’d ever have put on my Christmas list when I was younger, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve changed, my tastes have changed and I sometimes like to get little gifts that are for the house. Cushions are something I love, especially scatter cushions. You can never have too many. I am particularly loving the Sofa Sofa scatter cushions. They feel great, look great and you can chose the material and colour. A little luxury that can change the way a room looks and makes those long evenings on the laptop a little bit more comfortable.
Being a big fan of essential oils as you read above, I am also a fan of oil burners. I particularly like this Essence of Arcadia Diamond shaped oil burner. An oil diffuser is the perfect aromatherapy companion to any living space. To use, fill the reservoir with tape water and add 6-10 drops of your favourite essential oil. Some Ylang Ylang or Neroli or some Lavender is one I use a lot in the evening for helping calm the children down for bedtime. There are many different scents that can change your mood from calm to uplifting. I love the look of this diffuser, it’s sleek, stylish, but not too big. This is definitely something I am hoping to find under my Christmas tree on Christmas morning. The oil set about, even the smaller one, would be a perfect combination for this and it comes with the booklet telling you all about the oils.
This one is a little indulgent and up until recently I had no need to a mug or tea cup. I have started to drink some Teapigs Peppermint Tea and this would go perfectly in this elegant and stylish mug. Gorgeous isn’t it. And even comes with it’s own coaster. Ted Baker have joined forces with Portmeirion and came up with this wonderful new range Rosie Lee; beautiful fine bone china tableware. Decorated with floral prints and hand gilded with 22 carat gold. A little bit of posh. And loveliness. And at £21, it’s not out of a gift price range.
Many of my readers will know I’m writing a novel. Well I’ve finished the first draft and onto editing. Not as easy in my book. Writing is something I love, I’ve always loved it and it is still my dream to be published one day. So when I came across The Novel Planner by chance on twitter one day, I had a look and it looked great. I ordered it as a little gift to myself. You’ve got to treat yourself now and again. It arrived today and it’s fab. I cannot wait to start using it in the New Year. At £11.25 it’s not a huge investment, but it’s large and lots of space to write notes. With monthly and weekly calendars allow you to establish goals, plan tasks, remember important dates, and celebrate accomplishments. A useful gift.
Books are another one that never go wrong, but there are so many I’d like that I’d end up with a whole other post.
The final item on my Christmas list for mums is a DVD, coupled with their favourite tipple. That might be coffee, diet irn bru or maybe some gin and tonic. Throw in a nice box of chocolates and take away and you have a perfect evening in front of the telly. I chose The Notebook as my film as several people have told me recently to watch it including my lovely friend and talented author Rachael Lucas. This I am adding to my list in the vain hope someone reads it, *cough* husband and it magically appears in my Christmas stocking. What to you think? Should I watch it? Do I need a box of tissues. Is there a film you haven’t seen that you’d love to see? Maybe one you’d like to see turn up in your Christmas stocking this year? I’d love to know.
What is on your Christmas wish list? Is there anything that I should be adding?
