Earlier on this year Arklu the makers behind Lottie Dolls launched a competition to end the dearth of female superhero toys and allow a child to design their own Superhero costume for Lottie. Not only that, see their costume come to life. Cool huh! Now if you read my last Lottie dolls post, you’ll know how much I LOVE these dolls and what they stand for. So I was delighted to see the winning Super Lottie outfit independently judged by the Brave Girls Alliance and designed by a six year old girl called Lily from Ohio in the USA.
Lily wanted to inspire girls and embrace their potential. To acknowledge and embrace their potential, and accept who they are: ‘Super Lottie has the power to be anything, to do anything, and to make the world a better place. She is unique and special in her own way’. Who wouldn’t want to be that Super girl. The winning entry is above and you can see how close it is to Lily’s design in real life. She looks very chuffed with her creation and so she should. I think she did an amazing job. I hope my little girl is inspired by Lily’s story and can’t wait to tell her all about it.
I also love how the packaging has the story of this creation on the back. All Lottie dolls and their accessories have their story printed on the back. I think this is a great addition and expands the imagination and role play.
I put the Lottie Super hero costume onto my Pirate Lottie doll as I love her red hair like Aria’s. It was simple and easy to put on, one easy Velcro opening and I was worried about the boots, I need not have as they slip on simply. The metallic colours look great and make her stand out in a crowd.
She looks fab doesn’t she. I love the outfit and everything it stands for. This is on my nieces Christmas list and I can’t wait to see their faces when I give it to them on Christmas day. Aria loved Super Lottie and plays with her a lot, but the one who seems to have taken the biggest shine to her is my five year old boy. I caught him flying her around the room.
I think the Super Lottie should be on top of all little girl’s Christmas list and I am sure she will inspire lots of little girls to reach for the sky and become their own Super hero who can achieve whatever they put their mind too. Lottie has done it again and brought out yet another inspiring doll, these are the type of toys I want my children growing up playing with and learning about. They are well made, beautiful and inspiring.
