The Flying Bath is about the bath toys coming alive and springing into action once everyone is out of the house. They travel on adventures in their magical flying bath and help animals that have found themselves in a spot of bother. From a baboon that’s scared to a piglet in need of a wash, but no need to worry as they are always back in time to play with the children in the bath at the end of the day.
The Flying Bath is the latest in the Julia Donaldson and illustrated David Roberts books for children. We are huge fans of Julia Donaldson in our house and with my youngest boy Tyler learning to read, he was delighted to give this book a go.
What I love about Julia’s books is that the words are simple, but the story is fun and imaginative. Plus with the Rhyming aspect, it’s infectious and children want it over and over again. This book didn’t fail in that respect. It is slightly different from Room in the Broom, Zog, etc. This book is more like her range from Tyrannosaurus Drip, etc.
The book reminds me a little of The Wonder Pets children’s TV show that used to be on. It’s fun, imaginative and it helps children understand compassion and helping others.
There are little speech-bubbles which have rhyming text in them, these were perfect for Tyler to read aloud and would be great to encourage younger ones to repeat. You too will be repeating “Wings out, and off we fly. The Flying Bath is in the sky!” I love the way this book is written out. The illustrations compliment the text and it just all works perfectly for giving little ones a bedtime story to inspire.
Why not have a look at this cute video of the book. I’d love to know what you think?
Wings out, and off we fly. The Flying Bath is in the sky!
