Proudest Mummy Moment

There are so many proud mummy moments, that I could be here for days writing that post, from the first step they took, that first smile, their first words and that heart melting moment when they say they love you, I could go on and on. But there are two which stand out for me from last year and were to do with my oldest Lucas who turned five on Christmas eve. I thought I would share these with you.

First was in October, he has been at school for a couple of months now and was learning sounds and putting them together to form words. Now this in itself is amazing to see and I was ever so proud of him. However, my proud mummy monitor went into meltdown when he brought home his first book.

Anyone who knows me or reads my blog, twitter, etc will know how much I love books and love to read, so this was one of those I hope he's going to be like me moments and love the written word. I sat beside him and he actually read me the whole book, no kidding from cover to cover he read me every word. Ok, it was only 5 words but still I was in awe. My beautiful boy, loved it. However, we I asked if I could take a quick picture of him reading his book, let's see what he did.

Well, he may or may not love books the same way I do. I will do my best to encourage him and I will continue to read to him with all my heart, but at least he has a sense of humour to go with it.

Lucas is quite shy until you get to know him, he's quite quietly spoken, like me and lacks some confidence, takes that from his mum. So when I went to see him in the school's panto and saw him on that stage, I welled up. My little guy standing there dancing and singing his heart out with the other primary ones. Ok, he didn't look like he was overly comfortable up there but he did and there were no tears. And he went on to do it again the next afternoon. I have never been prouder.

Not a great picture, but it was difficult to take one from the audience when it was dark. Here's my little Cinderella's mouse as part of the mouse choir.

What are your proudest mummy moments?
