All of you know that my oldest started school three weeks ago. He is settling in well as you can see on my post about how he is getting on. I have been really worried about how he will settle in, I didn't have a good experience and want him to have a positive one.
When I was at the school for school dinners yesterday, another post, I spoke to his teacher and asked how he was getting on. She explained he is doing well, very intelligent, great at writing and is starting to come out of his shell now he knows all the adults. I also got to see around his three classrooms yesterday by him and his teacher. He was so happy and comfortable looking there, no fear or hesitation. I got shown where he draws his numbers, the library, the snow dough (don't ask I have no idea), jigsaws, where they do their letters, bake and make things, in fact more sections than I can remember.
This put my mind at ease, he is certainly happy there and enjoying it. My only problem is that he is quite shy. Now I am a shy person, especially when I was a child I was painfully shy. Now I am very confident at work, with strangers but around my friends and family I can be a little shy. Lucas is shy until he gets to know you, then he comes out of his shell. He still doesn't have a great deal of confidence.
I would like him to be a happy confident wee boy. Can anyone give me any tips on how I can help him gain the confidence to help him flourish?
He's a lovely wee boys, smiles and laughs all the time. People love him, but it takes him a while to come round. He goes to football and went swimming. Just not sure what else to do to give him the confidence, my little boy should have. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. To be honest, I could probably be doing with a few pointers too.
