The Gallery 39 - Sparkle

This week's Gallery Prompt at from the lovely Tara over at Sticky Fingers is Sparkle.

You might think this is a strange picture, but it's what I thought of when I was thinking of a photo of something sparkly.

I was sitting in the living room having a think about what to use or take a picture of, when the sparkly pipe cleaners caught my eye. I started arranging them to take a photo and before I knew it, I was making a spider web out of them. After the web was complete I had to make a little incy wincy to go with it. What do you think? Am I going mad?

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

Description: Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat left for her. But now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

Review: I read this book in record speed, I just couldn't put it down. With each page I turned, I kept wanting more. Then it seemed like the story was winding up, for another curve ball to be thrown into the mix and they just kept coming.

Children Believing in Santa

I remember the year that I stopped believing in Santa. I think I was about 8 or 9. I found out from someone at school. They were talking about how they saw their parents putting the presents under their tree the year before. The cogs in the brain started to turn and I started to put 2 and 2 together.

At the time I thought I was a big girl, to young for silly notions of Santa, fairies, etc. How wrong was I. I wish I had help onto those beliefs those dreams forever, because once you loose them nothing is ever the same.

Christmas day is still fun, you still get presents, a huge dinner and get to see lots of family and friends, but it's not magical anymore.

Once you have children, you get some of that magic back. You get to see it through the eyes of a child and there is nothing more special than that.

Video from Santa - Portable North Pole

One of my favourite things about being a parent is seeing a child get excited on the lead up to Christmas. Getting them to write a letter to Santa, going to visit Santa, putting up the Christmas tree, singing Christmas songs and carols and many many other lovely traditions.

For the past two years we have created a new exciting tradition. Each of the boys has received a personalised video from the big red man himself, no not Gordon Brown after walking but Santa Claus.

The Gallery 38 - White

This week's Gallery Prompt at from the lovely Tara over at Sticky Fingers is White.

White, white, white, that is all I see right now. We are currently snowed in. We were snowed into work on Monday. The street has been covered in snow for almost two weeks now. It is very picturesque but it is becoming tiresome. Never thought I would get fed up of snow but I am. Please go away. I no longer want to live in this beautiful snowglobe. Well not this week anyway, feel free to come back at Christmas time.

Here are my photos from today.

Book Preview & Creative Writing e-course - Tiny Acorns

Dotterel Press has launched a charity anthology featuring the work of several regional writers - including XXX from YYY - and raising money for this year's Children in Need appeal.

The course itself came into being after one of the students - having signed up for an evening class in writing - was disappointed to find that her lessons has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

The Gallery 37 - Celebrations

This week's Gallery Prompt at from the lovely Tara over at Sticky Fingers is Celebrations.

I had lots of pictures of celebrations, which I looked through. But one stood out more than the others. This one was taken at the end of a very special year. I had been trying to get pregnant for a long time, so had my sister in law. We both fell pregnant a month apart. My sister in laws gorgeous twin girls were born in the October and my baby boy was born on Christmas eve.

This picture was taken on Christmas day at my mother in law's house not long after I had gotten out of hospital and was there with another 22 people for Christmas dinner. There was a big celebration that year.
